Carsington Duathlon

The Carsington Short Course Duathlon is set in the scenic countryside of the Derbyshire Peak District. Carsington Water is situated off the B5035 between Ashbourne and Wirksworth.
Carsington Water is an excellent venue with plenty of car parking, numerous shops and an on site restaurant (which provides a superb viewing area for spectators) offering hot meals, snacks and refreshments. For the children – a great outdoor play area.

Start The event will be start at 8.30am and is one mass start

Run 5K

The first run is an undulating, out and back route along side the reservoir, the course is traffic free on country tracks and footpaths.

This will take you on a loop through the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District on an undulating course, all on roads. With a challenging climb towards Middleton Top. The route will be marshaled and signposted throughout but extra care should be taken on some of the steeper descents.

Run 5K

After taking in the sights on your bike, you will head out onto the out and back run, repeating the first run.

Feed Stations

Science In Sport (SIS) are the official drinks sponsor of the Carsington Duathlon and will be manning the feed stations on the run & finish (SIS energy drink & water).


We are always in need of marshals on the course so if there are any partners or friends out there that are willing to help please get in touch with us and you will be rewarded with a goody bag and t-shirt.

Race Rules

This will be held under the rules of the British Triathlon Association. As always, your bicycle must be in a road worthy condition and an approved cycle helmet must be worn, A BTF referee will be present throughout the day. Full BTF rules can be found on

Prizes and Presentation

The prize ceremony will take place near the finish area (weather permitting) at approximately10.45am.

Prizes will be awarded to the following cats:

  • 1st, 2nd, 3rd Overall Male
  • 1st, 2nd, 3rd Overall Female
  • 1st in all 10 year age groups
  • 1st Relay team first
  • Overall Winners are not eligible for Age Group Awards
